It's that time of year when the applications for summer art fairs are due.
I thought I show photos of my booths from some art fairs I have done over the past few years.
I guess I would have to say I have a love/hate relationship for these events.
On the one hand I do LOVE meeting the people and talking about my art. I enjoy visiting with other artist and vendors and seeing their art in person. Also, when the weather is nice, it's fun to be outside enjoying the day.
On the other hand it's a heck of a lot of work to load the car, set up and then after the show repacking and once again load the car. In the past I have had artwork damaged due to the packing and unpacking. Then there is the cost. The fees can be quite expensive.
I want to do some art fairs really really bad. I have never, but feel like it is a great opportunity. I would also love to hear from others who have done this to see if it is successful or not. Thanks for sharing your tidbits on the topic!
ReplyDelete~i have always wanted to be apart of our farmers market or art fair just have yet too...i think from a buyer stand point it is a wonderful way for us to see talented artists and purchase such exquisite pieces we may not have usually come across...wishing you luck with your decisions...l♥ve the color palettes you work with...very calming to the soul...brightest blessings~
ReplyDeleteYou booth is wonderful. I love it. I can see lots of beautiful items~wow.
ReplyDeleteI do know that Art Fairs are a LOT of work. I have done many with my daughter and her pottery. Now, that she has a retail space attached to her working studio she does not do the fairs anymore. I do miss them a little. Always such fun to check out what all is for sale. All the vendors are so interesting.
Hey Bethany,
ReplyDeleteI would imagine back in the Boston area there are a ton of shows in the summer. I recommend trying one or two. I would suggest having a variety of items - like prints of your paintings on greeting cards, frig magnets or totes. The shows can be fun and you do meet new customers. :)
Hi Faerwillow,
ReplyDeleteFarmers markets are a wonderful place to shop as well a sell handmade goodies. Thanks for your kind comments on my booth design.
Hi Cory,
ReplyDeleteI've admired your daughters pottery. She's very talented and has some beautiful pieces. Having helped her, you know all about the work and fun involved with art festivals.
your booth looks awesome, good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah!
