Encaustic Mixed Media Painting - Charlie

I enjoy collecting vintage photographs and I love using them in my paintings. In this original encaustic painting I have incorporated a vintage photograph as well as red thread, red paper dots and some gold leafing.
I stitched the red thread onto the photograph and let the threads hang. The effect looks wonderful when the painting is hanging on the wall. I then nailed the photo to the painting.
The background of the painting has some vintage pages from a book. I really like the was the vintage paper looks the encaustic beeswax is applied to the paper. The pages of the paper gets somewhat translucent and the back side shows through.
This original encaustic mixed media painting is available to purchase in my shop here.

BOYFRIEND art block

This is an encaustic art block
Images of "sporty guys" from the early 1900's highlight the four sides to this block.
I added festive dots in turquoise and red. This art block can sit on a desk or mantle.
Each side of the art block has a different "boyfriend" so you can choose your boyfriend for the day.

Festive Cheer

The winter holiday season is upon us. I do enjoy this cozy time of the year. It gets dark here quite early, around 4:30. The holiday lights help to make these dreary rainy days cheerful. My shop, Susan Najarian Art & Design, has some cheerful and festive encaustic paintings to brighten up these winter days as well.
How about this holiday deer?
Such a cute little dachshund ornament. This ornament is a mini encaustic painting.
A horse ornament
Forest trees covered in snow in a pretty icy blue hue.
In this encaustic painting I put some vintage lace. The lace creates a wonderful snowy pattern.
There are lots of  ornaments still available in my shop. They make great gifts and the shipping is FREE.

Art Ornaments

I've been busy creating fun new items for the holidays.
New encaustic art ornaments. These ornaments are tiny little paintings that you can hang on a tree or use to decorate a package.
These sweet little encaustic paintings would make perfect hostess gifts or stocking stuffers.
Each ornament comes in a fabric gift bag.
I am adding new styles and designs quite often.
And the best part, I'm offering FREE shipping on these little paintings. You can find all of these holiday ornaments here.

Black CROSS Encaustic Art Block

This original encaustic painting is painted on a square block of wood.
I have painted all the sides of the block except for one side. I added a hook so this piece can be set on a table or hung on the wall.
You can find this original black and white encaustic art block painting here

Driftwood Painting

Living on an island in the Pacific Northwest is fantastic. The natural beauty of this forested haven amazes me daily.
I try taking daily walks along the nearby shore and many times I will find some wonderful pieces of driftwood.
Much of the wood is too large or too small but this time I found a piece just the right size. I decide to create something fun.
I started by painting white encaustic beeswax on to the wood.
I added some image transfer trees to the white encaustic. I then hammered some small black nails around the encaustic paint. I finished the painting by wrapping a bit of rusty wire around the nails.
I really like how the texture of the wood, wax and wire come together.

Paris Love

The Eiffel Tower is a wrought iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris.
Built in 1889 as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair.
This is a new mixed media encaustic painting of this lovely Paris landmark.
I created this lattice structure using pages from a vintage French book.
Cutting the paper to the correct size and piecing the tower together took some time, but as the tower took shape it became fun. It was rather meditative and I really like the end result.
I will be offering this original piece in my Etsy shop as well as prints of this encaustic painting.
